Most business owners often doubt whether to work with a virtual assistant nor to outsource their business. Handling responsibilities to someone who is working with you a million miles away is way too risky. I am sure you might have experienced it yourself or maybe witness someone else’s bad experience with VAs. Of all the issues, being unreliable seems to be the most common. A number of clients told me that they were let down by flaky VAs who stressed them up, didn’t report their progress, or just didn’t deliver it at all. You need someone who you can rely on, who is proactive.


VA sells themselves on their ability to provide reliable and accurate business support, even though mistakes will undoubtedly be made. 

This is why we always recommend that VAs, at least when they first start out, give what they know how to do and should at least show their portfolio.

Communicates well.

You still need to consider the status of their assignments. Both you and your VA should always be explicit about deadlines, the availability of each other, the frequency of updates, and when and how to deliver the updates. 

 Making sure that you both are always on the same page. Communication plays a crucial role in an effective Client-VA relationship that will be a tool to advance your business.


Asking questions is always good, but if your VA keeps on asking like always that’s already annoying. Can you keep up with that kind of VA, if you are patient then good for you but you are not, I know you would love to have someone who makes extra effort to research, study, or learn from many resources available for them? Especially those questions even google can answer.

Self-directed, disciplined, and can work alone

Not that your VA would work all by herself, but I mean was after you did your part, giving him/her the overview of the task, trained, and given her all that he needs to know about the business then he can work with less supervision. That is exactly why you hired a virtual assistant in the first place to unload your burdens and ease yourself from headaches.

These are just some of the qualities a VA should have.
